Oops…
As it turns out, I owe y’all a couple songs :X No excuses here, just gonna suck it up and keep pushing through and get ‘em up as soon as possible. For now, a distraction in the form of a Beirut cover! Felt like tossing mine out into the mix, there are some really great ones out there on the ‘tubes.
Week 5: Better late than never?
This one is a super duper rough draft work in progress ends abruptly sorry ‘bout that hey no excuses, so I’m just gonna stick it up here and back away slowly now…
Here’s to a productive February!
By the by, if you’re a johnny-come-lately looking for the mp3’s of January’s songs, I’ve zipped ‘em up so you can grab them in one go real convenient-like.
Week 4 - “i’ve got a new song”
[if ya wanna: buy mp3]
Achievement unlocked! This wraps up the first month of the one-song-a-week project. Whew!
Side missions for coming months: not waiting until Saturday or Sunday to put everything together, and keeping lyrics written down all in one place. Some people call them notebooks, and I hear that they are novel inventions for storing collections of written words for later reference.
Thanks for the support as always!
Week 3 - “in uniform”
Thanks x100 for all the kind words and encouragement on the project thus far. Gonna keep on chugging along right into February and the rest of 2012. Here’s week 3.
[mp3]

Week 2 - “built for love” (for three shiny quarters you can have the mp3)
down to the wire again - rough but it’s a start! and thanks to the fine folks at Potager Cafe in Arlington for having me out to play a few songs tonight, just before i rushed home to finish this up.
now, to catch the rest of Dan Radcliffe hosting Saturday Night Live.
Week 1 - “some day, you’ll see”
[toss 3 quarters into the tip jar and you can have the mp3]
Kicking things off with a quick thingie I waited ‘til the last minute on. One down, 51 to go!
2012 is the Year of the Dragon
And in it, I’m going to write and record a song every week.
The rules:
- A new song must be posted here every 7 days
- Minimum of 1 minute in length
- Allow other humans to hear it
- No bitching or excuses allowed
Not all of the songs will be complete or even very good, nor will they have any continuity in terms of subject matter or genre.
The idea is to get some stuff out there in the ether, silly or serious, and maybe have a few scraps to work with going forward. And hopefully it’ll keep me on my feet, creatively speaking. Maybe invite some collaboration, if anybody’s so inclined…?
If you don’t see a new post with an .mp3 file in it every 7 days, please feel free to call me out on my bullshit on Twitter: @rachtastic
Well, we’ll see how this goes. Happy early new year!
